PATNA: All inspectors and SIs have been asked to do night patrolling to check increasing number of vehicle theft cases in the city.
While holding a meeting on Monday to review crime in the state capital, SSP, Patna, Jitender Rana focused on vehicle theft and burglary cases during the past few months. He asked them to strictly check the vehicles, especially during night in their respective areas.
Most of the burglary cases were reported from vacant houses in different areas of the city. “Recently, the gangs involved in burglary have been more active during night. They had almost the same modus operandi in unlocking the vacant houses. We have arrested members of around 15 gangs in the past few weeks but some of them are still on the run. We are also trying to find some connections which can help nab the other members. The arrested members have been charged with housebreak and vehicle theft,” Rana said.
Inspectors have been directed to identify the otherwise unknown members of these gangs as they keep running parallel criminal activities. They later join the arrested members after their release from jail.
The SSP specially instructed Phuwarisharif police station as some gangs were still not detected by the police in that area. Besides inspectors, all the SPs and DSPs attended the meeting.
